About Jaco Thiart

Seismic (VSP) Specialist
I am an Experienced Seismic Specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the oil & gas industry. Covering all activities related to Bore-Hole Seismic operations according to the client’s requirements and specifications. Services include everything from job planning, execution of survey, post-job deliverables to servicing of equipment and training of personnel. QC of VSP operations on behalf of clients The discipline I have been involved with is seismic services (also called vertical seismic profiling or borehole seismic) and is utilized for downhole formation evaluation during the process of exploring crude oil or natural gas. I started my oil and gas career as a seismic source engineer and offshore positioning specialist and transitioned to data acquisition, field processing, and related logistics. The industry requires focus, precision, logic, and long working hours when required and the importance of real-time decision making and problem-solving is key when time is money. In such a multi-disciplinary environment it is also often necessary to be able to source the correct information when the answers are not readily available which in turn requires good people skills and - relations when working in a multi-cultural environment. Through my work, I have been fortunate to travel to – and work in – many different countries and work alongside people from very diverse cultures and backgrounds. I am fully qualified to work as the sole seismic specialist on contract and handle all aspects of the discipline including but not limited to: equipment selection and maintenance, data acquisition, field reporting, and processing, mobilizing and demobilizing equipment, training and assessing of operators, and piers and client liaison relevant to ongoing operations. All tasks are always performed in full compliance with company COBC and HSE standards and regulations.
